Amid continuous rumours regarding his future with CSK, former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has alluded to a potential comeback for the 2025 Indian Premier League, saying he wants to savour "whatever last few years of cricket" he can. When Dhoni gave Ruturaj Gaikwad the captaincy and began batting lower in the order last season, there were concerns about his future plans.

Since MS Dhoni has struggled with injuries in recent years, there have been many rumours that he may retire from cricket. Nevertheless, the lucky cricket player has surmounted every obstacle and delighted spectators throughout the Indian Premier League (IPL) with his spectacular batting and thrilling wicketkeeping.

MS Dhoni Drops Bombshell:

A previous regulation that would have let CSK keep Dhoni as an uncapped player until the 2025 season of the lucrative league was reinstated by the IPL Governing Council last month. On the other hand, the team has not confirmed that the player will be available for the upcoming season. Dhoni's status remains a matter of interest as the franchise retention lists due on October 31 draw near in anticipation of the massive auction. Under a recently reinstated regulation that permits players to be deemed uncapped after five years of retirement from international cricket, CSK may decide to keep Dhoni.

At a recent promotional event in Goa, Dhoni expressed his current state of mind by saying, "I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I'm able to play. Like how during our childhood, we used to go out and play at 4 pm, just enjoying the game."

Over the years, CSK's success has been shaped in part by Dhoni's lasting impact as a coach and player. Fans would have the chance to witness the iconic cricket player on the field again if he were to make a comeback, not only as a leader but also as someone who was intent on savouring the game's essence in his final innings.
