In preparation for the five-match Test series against England, the 'A' team, which will play the Lions in two four-day matches over the May–June window, is expected to include some of India's top players. India will try to win the first away series at the Old Blighty since 2007 when they start their 45-day trip to England on June 20 with the first Test at Headingley. In order to prepare for the five-match Test series against England, these pre-tour matches will take place over the May–June timeframe.
The first game of the senior team's campaign will take place at Headingley on June 20. Ahead of the series, which will mark the commencement of the 2025/27 World Test Championship cycle, India A will play two tour games starting May 30. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced in a statement, "The first four-day match will be hosted at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence in Canterbury from May 30. The second match is scheduled to begin a week later on June 6 at the County Ground in Northampton."
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are Ready for More?
Since the league's elimination stages will take place on May 20, 21, and 23 before the final on May 25, all of the top Indian cricket players currently have contracts with their respective IPL teams. As of right now, Karun Nair might be on the flight, and it provides the selectors ample time to reveal the India A squad before the trip to England. With 863 runs from nine games at an average of 54, 400, and two fifties, Karun has been a very impressive player in the 2024–25 domestic season. He is now the top run-getter in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the fourth-highest run-maker in the Ranji Trophy.
Given their recent dismal performance in red-ball cricket, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma might be asked to play for India A. In the three Test series the team has played since September, the captain of India has only amassed 164 runs, including 31 during the Australian trip. However, even though he scored a century in the first game in Perth, Kohli only averaged 23.75 throughout the series against Australia.
