A rush outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday afternoon claimed the lives of 11 people, including a mother and a class 9 kid, turning the Royal Challengers Bengaluru supporters' win celebrations into a sad event. There have been reports of 47 injuries, and there are concerns that the number may rise.
The stadium was packed with spectators before the RCB team's IPL 2025 victory parade. Bengaluru City Police's decision not to file a First Information Report (FIR) about the stampede at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4 that claimed 11 lives and injured 47 more has drawn criticism. Rather, 11 distinct Unnatural Death Reports (UDRs) have been filed by the police.
After a FIR is registered, the jurisdictional court must be notified within 24 hours. The court must be informed of any new information about the case's inquiry. However, in a UDR, the jurisdictional tehsildar will oversee the investigation; there is no criminal investigation.
RCB Victory Parade Turns into Disaster:
1 parade, 0 brains, & now 7 funerals. What kind of idiots plans a mass celebration without barricades, without strategy?

A senior city police official defended this action by stating that an FIR will be filed, if necessary, in light of the results of the magisterial inquiry into the alleged lapses and reasons of the stampede, which Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has instituted. The officer said, “Filing an FIR now will amount to prejudging the findings of the magisterial inquiry." When people began to pour into the stadium, the police also had to use a lathi charge. Even the stadium's compound wall was scaled by fans. One man slipped while trying to scale the wall and fractured his leg.
Numerous persons were transported to Bowring Hospital with injuries, according to sources, and the hospital was unable to keep track of the number of injured. Numerous injured people were also sent to nearby hospitals, including Vydehi. Additionally, it is said that some fainted at the state government's felicitation of the RCB players at Vidhana Soudha. Rain caused the felicitation program to be interrupted.
Following the event, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told the media that a large crowd had broken through a small gate at the stadium, causing the stampede. He stated, "Over two to three lakh people gathered near Chinnaswamy Stadium—no one expected such a crowd."
