Rain has caused the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) Qualifier 2 match between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) to be postponed at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The toss took place at 7 PM IST, which is standard time. Citing the cloudy weather and the fact that the field was covered on match eve, Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first without hesitation.
Rain, however, arrived just as the players were heading to the field for the start of the action. But the drizzle subsided after five minutes or so. Once more, players started getting ready before playing, but the rain returned—this time in the form of a drizzle. The rain was coming down hard, forcing fans to find shelter. Ground crews also jumped back into work to quickly cover the surface.

For those who are unaware, this game will only lose if the rain and cleanup have lasted 120 minutes. Depending on the designated cut-off time, the length of the match will be shortened. For the game to be considered legitimate, each team must play at least five overs.
The game will be abandoned if there is continuous heavy rain that makes it impossible to play even a 5-over match. The IPL 2025 Qualifier 2 between the Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings does not have a reserve day. The team that placed higher after the league stage will immediately take the remaining berth in the final if the game is cancelled. In the event that rain cancels Qualifier 2, PBKS will guarantee their second spot in the June 3 IPL 2025 final.
The match was supposed to begin at 8:25 PM, but cricket fans were given some good news about half an hour after the original start time. But since the rain returned, this update had to be scrapped. Fans have been waiting impatiently for two outstanding teams to compete for a chance to play Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the summit match on Tuesday, June 3.
Yuzvendra Chahal has finally returned to PBKS' starting lineup for the crucial match, according to team news. At an average of 25.29, he has taken 14 wickets in his 12 games thus far. However, Harpreet Brar was left off the roster, and Vijaykumar Vyshak was also included. One of the Impact Players, Prabhsimran Singh, is anticipated to bat in the second innings. Reece Topley, however, has taken Richard Gleeson's place at MI.
