Babar Azam has been having a lot of trouble lately, and the PSL 2025 game between Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi was no exception. On Saturday, April 19, Babar left the game at Rawalpindi after just a few runs, demonstrating his lack of effort once more.
Early on, Saim Ayub and Babar Azam, the openers, both went back to the pavilion. Speaking of Babar, the right-hander scored just 2 (5), which is unfortunately his highest total of the season, indicating that the former captain of Pakistan is having trouble finding his form. Babar has only scored three runs in his three games thus far.
Babar has now only managed three runs from as many games after yet another lacklustre batting performance. He scored a run in the second game, a two-ball duck in the first, and a few more runs in the match against the Sultans. Since he is regarded by both fans and analysts as the best Pakistani batter of the present age, these statistics are extremely alarming for someone of his calibre.

In Zalmi's second encounter of the tournament, Babar was dismissed for a single run after recording a duck in the season opener. Babar was hit by a left-arm seamer for the third time this season while discussing the current game. David Willey delivered a magnificent seaming delivery on the first ball of the third over, which nipped back in and trapped Babar in front of the wicket. Here is a video of the dismissal.Β
In the previous three seasons of the competition, the Peshawar Zalmi have advanced to the PSL playoffs. In the previous two editions, their 30-year-old batter was likewise one of the team's leading run producers. With 569 runs in 11 games played and an average of 56.90, Babar was the tournament's best run scorer the previous season.
After his team lost the second eliminator to eventual champions Islamabad United, the Lahore native finished third with a strike rate of 142.60 and five half-centuries and one century that season. To increase their chances of victory, the Zalmi will need to hope that the star batsman resumes his previous level of performance.
