Australian skipper Pat Cummins has expressed his delight over his team’s innings victory against Bangladesh in the second and final Test against Bangladesh to level the two-match series 1-1.
Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Cummins has hailed his teammates for being on their toes on both days of the game to bag a comfortable win over the visitors. Moreover, Cummins also showered praise on Cameron Green for creating an impact with the willow.
“A lot of things went right these couple of days, where a lot of things went wrong last week. But yeah, we needed to bounce back, and it was a great couple of days from the lads. I thought everyone was really sharp. It’s a bit like the opposite last week. If you get a really good first hour or two, it can set up the rest of the match. I don’t think we can expect to get six for 20 or whatever we had every match. But it was a great start and didn’t really let up after that,” Pat Cummins said at the post-match presentation.
“So really happy for him (Green). Again, held our innings together yesterday and this morning. So hopefully he can take a lot of confidence out of that. We know how good he is. He now keeps putting up some really solid performances in Test cricket. We know he’s good enough. So lots of cricket coming up; hopefully he continues it on,” he added.
Delving into the details of the game, Bangladesh was tasked to bat first, and they posted 64 runs in 34 overs. Mitchell Starc scalped a six-wicket haul. In response, Australia posted 210 runs in 52.3 overs. Cameron Green was the top scorer, amassing 67 runs. Shoriful Islam picked up a seven-wicket haul.
In the third innings, Bangladesh got bundled out for 95 runs in 38.3 overs as Australia secured an innings and 51-run win to level the two-match series 1-1.
