Dwayne Bravo, a former all-rounder for the West Indies, has been named the new head coach of the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) for the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Phil Simmons, who is now the head coach of Bangladesh's men's national team, will hand up the responsibilities to Bravo.

Bravo played in 107 matches during his remarkable CPL career, wearing the TKR shirt in nine of the eleven seasons. He amassed 1155 runs and claimed 129 wickets at an economy rate of 8.74. He won five championships as a player, including a memorable one in 2021 while leading the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Bravo stated in a franchise-shared social media post, “It’s an honour to be given the opportunity to be Head Coach of TKR, a team that’s very close to my heart. I would like to personally thank Coach Phil Simmons for his time and commitment over the last few years, and now I look forward to this new challenge for me and my staff."

He coached the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year. Additionally, he has served as a bowling consultant for the Chennai Super Kings and, more recently, the Afghanistan team for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Notably, TKR lost to the Barbados Royals in the Eliminator of the first playoff round despite finishing third in the league stage in 2024.

Bravo joins the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2025 Indian Premier League to take Gautam Gambhir's post as team coach. The Knight Riders, the reigning champions, placed seventh with 12 points after failing to retain their title under his leadership. In a variety of capacities, the well-known West Indies all-rounder has won four IPL championships with CSK. In addition to being the first player to win two purple caps in the event (in 2013 and 2015), the renowned Caribbean star has 183 wickets, which ranks sixth in IPL history.
