David Miller, a batter from South Africa, achieved the remarkable feat of 500 T20 career matches on Wednesday night. Miller was included in Barbados Royals' playing lineup for their 2024 Caribbean Premier League matchup against Guyana Amazon Warriors, which was a pivotal matchup between the league's second and third-place teams. Along with David Miller, we have also accumulated a list of men's most T20 appearances.

Miller hit 71 off 34 as they chased 220, but the rest of the team did not provide much assistance, and they lost by 47 runs. In addition, Miller accomplished a noteworthy professional milestone when he participated in his 500th Twenty20 match, making history as the first player from South Africa and the second player from outside the Caribbean to do so.

David Miller makes history in T20:

Playing for 26 different teams over his 500 matches, Miller became the sixth player overall to reach that milestone in men's T20 cricket. Between 2010 and 2024, 125 of his matches—exactly one-fourth—came for South Africa in international cricket. In April 2008, he played in his debut Twenty20 encounter for the Dolphins against the Warriors in the Standard Bank Pro20 Series. His team won easily, taking six wickets.

However, Miller still has a way to go before he can consider himself the greatest T20 player of all time. Like Miller, Kieron Pollard is a CPL player and presently tops the chart with 684 appearances. Dwayne Bravo is the closest player, with 582 matches played, and no one else has played 600 T20 matches. Bravo's career has suffered, though, as a result of an injury he sustained during a prior CPL game for the Trinbago Knight Riders.

In terms of T20 appearances, Miller is preceded by two other Caribbean players, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. Shoaib Malik, a Pakistani player, is the only other player from outside the islands to have 500 T20 appearances. At 35 years and 108 days, the South African batsman is the third-youngest player to participate in 500 T20 matches. The only other people who made it to 500 matches who are 35 years of age or younger are Pollard and Narine. Check out the full list below.
