Nicholas Pooran, a middle-order batsman for the West Indies, made history when he broke the record for most runs scored in a T20 cricket match in a single year. During a Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2024) encounter, Nicholas Pooran overtook Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan.
Jason Roy and Shaqkere Parris were defeated by Maheesh Theekshana and Jason Holder, respectively, after Rovman Powell won the toss and chose to field first. But Pooran, batting at number three, struck a boundary off the first ball he faced and proceeded to smash a rapid 27 off just 15 deliveries. The southpaw had a short but exciting spell at the crease, hitting four fours and a single maximum.
Nicholas Pooran creates history:
In the Caribbean Premier League 2024 season, the left-handed batter has had a significant influence on the Trinbago Knight Riders with the bat. With a strike rate of 175.28, a respectable average of 39.00, two half-centuries, and a career-high score of 97 runs, he has amassed 312 runs in 9 innings.
