Australia's Fast Bowlers Trigger India's Top-Order Collapse on Rainy Day in BGT 2024-25 3rd Test

Day 3 was spoiled by rain, which seemed to cause more rain stoppages than overs bowled. India was 22/3 at one time after losing Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Australia defeated India by 445 runs in their opening innings on the third day of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test match. However, Alex Carey, the final recognized batter, irritated the Indian team at the end of the first session, making it difficult for the Australian team to remove the tailenders. Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins contributed 20 and 18 runs, respectively, while he scored 70 runs off 88 balls.

Jasprit Bumrah spearheaded India's attack with the ball, taking six wickets. Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Nitish Reddy each contributed two and one wicket. The typical batting collapse ensued as the top order quickly trudged back to the pavilion, just when India had run out of options but to use their regular batting strategy.

India Stumble in Brisbane:

As players like Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal were dismissed while playing loose strokes, the top order fell apart once more. The only one who appeared capable of surviving in the middle was KL Rahul. As he hit the loose balls for boundaries, he also avoided being defensive. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma are out there, and when play resumes on Day 4, the two will try to win. India is still 394 runs behind.

After that, Virat Kohli went for a massive, booming drive and nearly fell for a golden duck. When Kohli eventually returned to the hut, he nicked off Josh Hazlewood's outside off-stump delivery. Alex Carey's superb knock of 70 runs earlier gave Australia some much-needed runs. Jasprit Bumrah removed Mitchell Starc to begin the third day. After several rain delays, Akash Deep eventually claimed a wicket to end the hosts' innings. Australia was therefore prepared for a massive 445.

KL Rahul, who appeared to be in good form and was undefeated at Stumps on Day 3 with 33* from 63 balls, was the lone tenacious approach from the Indian batting. As India's score reached 51/4, Rohit Sharma, the captain, joined him in the middle. Notably, the visiting team still has a 394-run deficit. Mitchell Starc took two wickets for Australia, and Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood both took one. The Indian innings was only 17 overs old when the day was finally called off due to the constant rain.
