Bangladesh recovered from 7/2 in 2.2 overs and chased down the target of 111 runs against Pakistan in 15.3 overs for the loss of three wickets on Sunday, thanks to opening batsman Parvez Hossain Emon's undefeated 56-run effort off 39 balls. In the opening Twenty20 International of the three-match series, Emon teamed up with Towhid Hridoy, who scored 36 runs off 37 balls and combined 73 runs for the third wicket to help the hosts defeat the Salman Ali Agha-led team.
The scoreboard showed 41 for the loss of four wickets after the powerplay. The third batter to go was captain Salman (3 off 9 balls). After attempting to smash his bat wildly off a hard length delivery from Mustafizur Rahman over the wicket, Hasan Nawaz left for a four-ball duck. With the departure of the captain, the visitors' situation deteriorated.
