Sam Konstas' contract with the Sydney Thunder has been extended until the 2028–2029 Big Bash League (BBL). The 19-year-old has now made five appearances for the Thunder. The Thunder will ultimately play some excellent cricket in the upcoming edition, Konstas, who scored the fastest half-century in Thunder history during his BBL debut in December of last year, said he was excited about the chance to learn more with childhood hero David Warner & Co.

Australian youth Sam Konstas made waves with his talent after Australia won the coveted Under-19 World Cup last year, setting the stage for his Test debut against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25. In addition, Konstas inked a contract with the Sydney Thunder for the 2024–25 BBL, closing the deal with his ideal team.

Sam Konstas' Future with Sydney Thunder:

The young player became the youngest player to achieve a BBL half-century and astonished the globe on his BBL debut by smashing the team's fastest half-century. His heroics have thrilled the organisation, which has granted the budding star a four-year deal. Through the 2028–2029 season, he will still be wearing the Sydney Thunder's jersey.

Copeland said, "Since I started in this role, it's been remarkable to watch Sam's progression. This time last year, he hadn't played a BBL match, and to go from that to breaking records on debut - alongside his growth across other formats - shows just how far he's come. This deal is huge in terms of tenure, and we see it as part of a journey that will hopefully make him a Thunder player for life."

Konstas has played ten Test matches for Australia after making his BBL debut for the Sydney Thunder. The gifted top-order batsman has not yet made his national white-ball debut. Konstas and the other players in the Thunder's lineup are anticipated to be crucial to the team's chances of winning a championship in 2025–2026. In the previous iteration, the Thunder came in second.
