On Sunday, December 15, on Day 2 of the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) at the legendary Gabba in Brisbane, star Australian batsman Travis Head continued his purple patch against India by smashing an incredible century. Head had an as, if not better, innings in the River City after his brilliant century in the second Test in Adelaide.
As Head roared to his second consecutive Test ton, extending his unstoppable run against India, Smith gradually found himself some much-needed runs after the Australians had lost three wickets for 75 runs. Before Bumrah got Smith caught behind by captain Rohit Sharma at slips, the partnership lasted 241 runs.

When the game was hanging in the balance, the flamboyant batter came to the crease. Interestingly, the Australian team was in trouble at 75/3 during the opening session. To make the Indian bowlers appear unimpressive, the southpaw smashed boundaries frequently and rotated his strike with ease. With just 115 balls, he reached his ninth Test century after clipping a low full-toss from Jasprit Bumrah past wide mid-on. For three runs, Head scrambled back to record the milestone.
The greatest partnership for any wicket in the history of the series is still Ponting and Clarke's 386-run partnership for the fourth wicket against India in the fourth and final Test of 2011โ12 BGT in Adelaide. Ponting and Clarke both got double hundreds as a result of this combination, which enabled their team win by 298 runs while defending by 500.
Together, Travis Head and Steve Smith amassed 159 runs off 224 balls, with Smith scoring a calm half-century. In the last session, both players, who were undefeated at Tea on Day 2, would try to further Australia's supremacy in the Test match. India will need to mount a fierce defense in the second session before the game starts in order to pull away from the hosts, who have established a commanding lead at 234/3.
