According to the most recent ICC Test rankings for batters, star Indian batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have taken a serious beating. Following the latest news on Wednesday, Kohli and Rohit suffered severe setbacks following India's crushing 10-wicket defeat to Australia in the Adelaide pink-ball Test last week. Rohit is currently out of the top 30 after dropping five spots to 31st place, while Kohli fell six spaces to 20th place. After smashing his 30th century in the Perth Test, Kohli appeared to find his rhythm again, but he struggled in Adelaide last week, scoring only 7 and 11.

Rohit Sharma fell out of the top 30 in the ICC rankings for Test cricket hitters for the first time in six years. The 37-year-old batter has only amassed 152 runs from 12 innings at a pitiful average of 11.83 in the 2024–25 season, which is disheartening given the game's purest structure. In the present Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he was removed for single-digit scores in the second Test match between Australia and India. Netizens have poured their opinions on social media. Check them out below.

Rohit Sharma faces criticism from netizens:

Rohit fell to the sixth position in the batting order. But in Adelaide, he only scored nine runs in both innings. The only Indians currently placed in the top 10 are Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Pant fell three spots and is now in ninth place, while Jaiswal is in fourth. The next highest-ranked Indian after them is Shubman Gill, a 17-year-old. Harry Brook surpassed Joe Root to take the top rank on the most recent ICC Men's Test Batter Rankings, which was a significant milestone.

After his brilliant performance against New Zealand in the first two Tests of the three-match series, Harry Brook of England is now the top Test batter. In just three innings, the right-handed batter has scored 349 runs at an incredible average of 116.33. The 25-year-old's scores in his last three innings have been 171, 123, and 55. He takes Kane Williamson's place at the top of the rankings, which was occupied by former England captain Joe Root in July of this year.
