Dinesh Karthik, a former batsman and wicketkeeper for India, will play for the Paarl Royals in the third SA20 season. Additionally, he made history by being the first Indian cricket player to play in the South African competition. Additionally, the keeper-batter serves as a brand spokesperson for the competition. Speaking about it, Karthik said he has watched the competition in the last two years and that he really enjoys it because he was a member of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007.

Revealing his excitement, Karthik said, "So I've watched both the editions very closely because a lot of the players that I've played with in IPL teams have played in that tournament. That's one. And South Africa has been a very fond place for me because of the memories I've had. When SA20 came up and you watch other tournaments, the one thing that's very evident is teams which have a strong domestic cricket culture come through with these franchise tournaments very well."

Dinesh Karthik excited for a thrilling SA20:

He further adds, “The fact that South Africa has had a very good domestic structure over a period of time, I think you could almost say they were frontrunners to be a very good tournament. The teams that assemble there, the six franchises that represent the domestic structure there, have been very good in terms of the assortment of players they've got. They've almost got the top players across batters, and bowlers, in the ICC rankings as we speak. So it was a very well-fought tournament."

As Karthik gets ready to compete in the SA20 league, his background and viewpoint should provide a thrilling new element to the competition, boosting its spirit of competition and global appeal. He did, however, add that the 39-year-old would have been enticed to accept an offer from any other squad.
