While Rishabh Pant is still recuperating from the injury he suffered on the first day of the match, Dhruv Jurel is continuing to take wickets on Day 2 of the third Test match between India and England at the storied Lord's Cricket Ground in London. For those who are not familiar, Pant hurt his finger while attempting to pick up a delivery along the leg-side. On Thursday, July 10, as Jurel put on the wicketkeeping gloves, the 27-year-old left the field.
In a media release, BCCI stated, "Rishabh Pant is still recovering from the hit on his left index finger. The BCCI medical team continues to monitor his progress. Dhruv Jurel will continue to keep wickets on Day 2." For the unversed, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted on social media the status of Pant's injury just minutes before play began on Day 2. The Indian vice-captain sustained a hit to his left index finger and is still healing, according to the cricket governing body. Additionally, they stated that Jurel will continue to take wickets on Day 2 and that the BCCI medical staff will monitor his condition.
Rishabh Pant's Injury Update:
Pant attempted a few routines on the second morning before the proceedings began, but he never appeared fully at ease, and it was clear that he would not be playing on the second day. As Dhruv Jurel took his place behind the wickets at the close of Day 1, the Board issued a statement stating that Pant is being watched by the medical staff. The BCCI added, "Team India vice-captain Rishabh Pant got hit on his left index finger. He is receiving treatment at the moment and is under the supervision of the medical team. Dhruv Jurel is currently keeping wickets in Rishabh's absence."

On Day 1, Jurel performed admirably behind the stumps. He could keep up with the pacers just as well as the spinners. Jurel was also commended by the great Kumar Sangakkara for his outstanding catch of Ravindra Jadeja's bowling in the last session of the first day, which sent a composed Ollie Pope back to the hut. On the second day, the 24-year-old will try to maintain his outstanding play behind the wickets as India aims to dismiss England for the lowest possible total.
