Tiwary, a seasoned Bengali cricketer, had earlier this year stated that he would like to question Dhoni about why he was singled out while players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma weren't scoring runs twelve years prior. Following the trend, Tiwary once again talked about his snub, stating that while a lot has passed, his confidence was harmed by being cut from the squad at the "peak" of his career.
Indirectly blaming MS Dhoni and the BCCI selection committee from the past, Manoj Tiwary has reopened the wounds from his controversial dismissal from the Indian squad more than ten years ago. Tiwary struck a century in an ODI against the West Indies in 2011, however, he was benched the very following game.
Manoj Tiwary breaks silence about MS Dhoni:
Eight months later, he returned to action for India. Although he has expressed his dissatisfaction with the choice on numerous occasions, Tiwary always feels compelled to voice his disappointment whenever the subject of his exclusions comes up. Tiwary opened up during a conversation with Cricket Addictor.
He stated, "See, it happened a long time ago. It's a matter of the past, but yes, Dukh to hota hi hai (It was sad). I would lie if I said it wasn't saddening. What can we do? It’s life, but it needs to move forward. If I am to write my autobiography or I do a podcast of my own, I will reveal it all. But it wasn't easy. When a player is at his peak, when his confidence is crushed, it causes a change in mindset."
Alongside his former India pros Robin Uthappa, Harbhajan Singh, and Pragyan Ojha, Tiwary most recently played for the Manipal Tigers in the Legends League Cricket. Tiwary loved playing in the league, even though his team didn't make it to the playoffs.
