In the Bengaluru Test match against New Zealand, all of Virat Kohli's supporters were hoping for a spectacular innings, but Kohli once again let them down by batting at number three. He didn't score any runs today, but he lost his wicket. Nevertheless, Virat Kohli was able to surpass the significant mark held by the previous Team India captain MS Dhoni.

The entire batting lineup of the squad, including Virat Kohli, has not impressed with the bat. The bowlers from New Zealand were picking up wickets with ease. Just Matt Henry claimed five wickets. Prior to their match against Australia in the forthcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy, India's batting performance is still a cause for concern.

However, Virat Kohli once again made history by becoming team India's second most-capped player. He is currently in second place after surpassing former India captain MS Dhoni. It is important to note that after being selected for India's opening Test match against New Zealand, Kohli rose to become the team's second-most-capped player.

Virat Kohli surpasses MS Dhoni:

While MS Dhoni has 535 caps between 2004 and 2019, Kohli's 536th international encounter will be the first Test match versus New Zealand. Legendary former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar leads the list of most caps with an incredible 664 appearances across formats during a career that lasted from 1989 to 2013, with Kohli in second place.

Rohit Sharma 486

It is noteworthy that the players with the most caps, following Kohli, are Rohit Sharma (486), followed by Ravindra Jadeja (346). It's interesting to note that Virat Kohli has played 115 Test matches in his career, scoring 8947 runs with 29 hundred and 30 half-centuries.

It is important to remember that India will only need to win one Test in the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar series against Australia to advance to the WTC final if they whitewash the BlackCaps in the three-game series. In addition, with five victories and four defeats in nine games, Sri Lanka is in third place in the rankings.
