A replacement fielder emerged from the pavilion with a spray in retaliation. In an effort to repel the insects, she sprayed the pitch area and even the bowler's jersey a few times. But the bugs kept swarming around the playing area, disturbing the game's flow, so the spray was essentially useless.

Both sides were being disrupted by the insects. The umpires had to temporarily halt play to give the Pakistani team time to control the situation because Indian players were also clearly slapping at flies.
