In the IPL 2025, KL Rahul has batted at a variety of positions and contributed significant runs to his team's total. The 33-year-old might be ready for a T20I return if rumours are to be believed.

KL Rahul may be considered for the forthcoming Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh, according to a Times of India report. There is a good chance that KL Rahul's name will be considered for the T20I squad when the selection process for the Indian team's August visit to Bangladesh begins. The selection procedure consists of three ODIs and as many T20Is. Rahul has currently amassed 72 T20I caps, and it has been over two and a half years since he last played for India in the game's shortest format.

However, during his absence from the Indian T20I team, the wicketkeeper-batter has been scoring runs in the few T20 cricket opportunities he has had. He has put up some outstanding performances in the IPL 2025. On Sunday, May 18, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Rahul opened the innings against the Gujarat Titans (GT) as a No. 4 hitter and amassed an incredible 112* off 65 balls, hitting 14 fours and four sixes.

KL Rahul Back in T20I Reckoning:

Rahul last played for India in a Twenty20 International on November 10 against England in the T20 World Cup semifinals. He opened the innings with skipper Rohit Sharma, but after only managing five runs off five deliveries, Chris Woakes removed him. India's poor performance, which culminated in a humiliating 10-wicket loss and their elimination from the tournament, was exacerbated by this dismissal.

Rahul's form had been concerning during the T20 World Cup campaign. Despite sustaining a strike rate of 120.75 and an average of 21.33, he was only able to score 128 runs in six games. Many people thought that the selectors should look into options other than Rahul for India's future T20 International plans because of these disappointing statistics.

In recent years, India's T20I cricket opening lineup has included some daring batsmen. Players like Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal have demonstrated their ability to attack the bowling from ball one. Before making the huge shots, Rahul, on the other hand, tried to get his eye in. That attitude has since shifted, though, as the seasoned players ran a campaign that put the bowlers to the sword right away.

In 2026, India hopes to win the T20 World Cup and keep the treasured championship. India and Sri Lanka will co-host the main event. With his expertise, Rahul, who was an essential part of India's Champions Trophy-winning campaign earlier this year, might be a key player in the T20 World Cup.
