The Mumbai Indians (MI) have officially announced Lisa Keightley, a former Australian cricket player and two-time World Cup champion, as their new head coach for the women's side. Charlotte Edwards, who is now the coach of the England Women's team, will be replaced by her.
Keightley is considered one of the most recognised coaches in women's cricket and was a member of Australia's World Cup-winning teams in 1997 and 2005. In addition to her impressive playing career, she has coaching experience in Australia, England, and the top divisions in the world.

Lisa said, “It’s an honour to join the Mumbai Indians, a team that has set the benchmark in the WPL. The culture of excellence and care is something I deeply admire. I look forward to working with this talented group to build on our success and continue inspiring on and off the field.”
Keightley is anticipated to further solidify the MI Women setup with her unmatched experience and vision. With two titles in three seasons—the first in 2023 and the second in 2025—MI Women are already the most successful side in the Women's Premier League's (WPL) history.
She was the first female head coach of England and has the rare distinction of having coached both the English and Australian women's teams. Additionally, Keightley has a wealth of franchise coaching experience in the WPL, The Hundred, and the WBBL.
MI had outstanding form in the 2025 season, finishing first in the league standings under Harmanpreet Kaur's direction. Harmanpreet scored a vital 66 runs as MI amassed 149 for seven against the Delhi Capitals in the final. Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr bowled brilliantly as they successfully defended the total, holding the Capitals to 141 for nine. With this triumph, MI became the most successful team in the history of the WPL and won their second championship.
