In preparation for the second stage of the Ranji Trophy 2024–25, India’s Test and One-Day International captain Rohit Sharma arrived at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday, January 14. On the internet, a video showing Rohit parking his car and carrying his kitbag inside the stadium is going viral. The 37-year-old, who had a poor performance in the just finished Border-Gavaskar Trophy match against Australia, was expected to attend the training session on Tuesday morning, according to a Monday article in the Indian Express.
The sixth Elite Group A match will take place from January 23 to 26 and pit Mumbai, the most successful team in Ranji Trophy history, against Jammu & Kashmir. It is still unclear if Rohit will play against J&K, according to a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) insider.

The Indian captain is currently debating whether or not to play in the match and has not yet announced his availability. Since 2015, Rohit has not participated in a Ranji Trophy game for Mumbai. Against Uttar Pradesh, he made his final appearance in India's top domestic league. At the time, he had not established himself as a consistent member of India's red-ball team.
A source from MCA says, "He will be coming for practice sessions with the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team, and it is still not decided whether he will be playing the next Ranji Trophy game against J&K. He will inform the MCA in due course."
In three Test matches against Australia, Rohit managed just 31 runs. Due to his paternity leave, he was unable to attend the first Test. Despite playing the next three games, the Nagpur native was unable to contribute any runs. For the fifth and final Test match, Rohit Sharma made the decision to leave himself out of the starting lineup. He did, however, make it apparent during the match that he had no immediate plans to stop playing the game's longest format.
