On Thursday, February 20, Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of India and the former president of the BCCI, almost avoided an accident. Ganguly was travelling to Burdwan for an event when his automobile was involved in a collision on the Durgapur Expressway at Dantanpur.

A lorry swiftly overtook Ganguly's convoy at Dantanpur, causing the driver to quickly tap the brakes. This set off a series of events that resulted in the automobiles behind Ganguly's car colliding with one another and then striking Ganguly's car.

Thankfully, the mishap did not result in any injuries. Two of Ganguly's convoy's vehicles, however, sustained minor damage. Ganguly had to wait on the road for almost ten minutes before he could get to Burdwan University for a planned event.

Sourav Ganguly's Narrow Escape:

Sana, the daughter of the former India captain, was also involved in an accident in January when her car was allegedly struck by a bus on Diamond Harbour Road in Kolkata. She was OK, though, and the car was only slightly damaged.

For those who were unaware, the captain who won the Champions Trophy in 2002 held an event at Burdwan University. He was observed discussing the future of Indian cricket with the students and university officials while sharing some of his own anecdotes.

Ganguly maintained his composure and continued with his plans in Burdwan in spite of the disturbing occurrence. At the event, he spoke with students and dignitaries, sharing stories from his storied career and talking about the future of Indian cricket. Ganguly, who is renowned for his composure and leadership, handled the matter with his usual grace before going back to work.

Hindustan Times cited Ganguly as stating “I am overwhelmed. It feels great to be in Burdwan. I am even more happy that you invited me. BDS (Burdwan Sports Association) has been asking me to come for a long time. It feels great to be here today."
