At the Centurion on Wednesday, Tilak Varma, a young, rising star from India, made headlines by smashing his first international century against South Africa. But as he tried to cling onto a grab in the last seconds of the game, he saw a regrettable injury scare to his head.

Abhishek Sharma's return to form, batting 50 off 25, was a welcome sight for the Indian team. But it was Tilak Varma's game-changing hit that enabled India to score a respectable total (219/6). In an incredible innings, the young player hit eight boundaries and seven maximums. He finished with a strike rate of 191.07 and remained undefeated at 107 off 56 balls thanks to the assault. Southpaw described this as his dream moment and said it was his first international century.

Tilak Varma's Brave Face:

However, the 22-year-old got into problems when he attempted to save as much as possible when fielding, even though everything else was going well for him. He attempted to save the lump sum of runs but was unable to do so. He fell to the ground, sustaining a hit to the head. Tilak Varma was cleared to go after the physiotherapist examined him for a concussion.

He later said that it was difficult to track the ball under these intense lights during the post-match award ceremony. However, he affirmed that he was all right and thrilled with India's victory against South Africa in the third Twenty20 International. Thinking back on his brilliant innings, Tilak Varma gave skipper Suryakumar Yadav credit for his achievement at number three by believing in him and moving him up.

India Today quoted Tilak saying, “I am okay, the catch came through the lights, so a little difficult but happy for the win.” India is preparing for their final encounter with the host team in the fourth Twenty20 International on November 15 at Johannesburg's Wanderers Stadium.
