Younis Khan, a former Pakistan captain, will serve as Afghanistan's Champions Trophy 2025 mentor. An ACB (Afghanistan Cricket Board) official confirmed the development, and it's worth mentioning that Younis Khan was the team's batting coach in 2022. The former Pakistan international, who scored over 10,000 runs in his brilliant Test career, has agreed to share some of his expertise with Rashid Khan and his teammates ahead of the big ICC competition.

Younis Khan, widely regarded as one of Pakistan's best cricketers of all time, was a powerful figure in the country during his lifetime. He scored 10,099 runs in 118 Tests and climbed to the top of the ICC rankings. Afghanistan achieved history by reaching the semifinals of the 2024 T20 World Cup. They defeated Australia before losing to South Africa in the semifinals.

Afghanistan gets ready for Champions Trophy 2025:

Sayeed Naseem Sadat said to Cricbuzz, "ACB has assigned former experienced top order Pakistani player Younis Khan as Mentor for Champions Trophy 2025. He (Younis) will join the team before the event starts in Pakistan." Speaking of Afghanistan cricket, the side is all set to participate in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025. The team will kick off their campaign against South Africa. Both sides will lock horns at the National Stadium, Karachi, on February 21.

A number of UK lawmakers encouraged the ECB to avoid Afghanistan cricket since the Taliban's legislation prohibits female involvement in sports. Afghanistan, on the other hand, will be determined to win the Champions Trophy in 2025. With Rashid Khan and Co. maintaining their momentum, there will be an even greater urgency to show themselves in international cricket.

Since retiring from international cricket, Younis has worked as a coach for several teams, notably Pakistan Super League club Peshawar Zalmi and Abu Dhabi T10 League franchise Bangla Tigers.
