In Bollywood, it has become commonplace to forego the large screen in favour of an OTT release. And Aamir Khan is going to have a big impact. According to reports, the actor intends to use a pay-per-view business model for his next movie, Sitaare Zameen Par, rather than releasing it over-the-top. Hollywood Reporter India claims that Aamir is eager to release Sitaare Zameen Par, a comedy drama, on a pay-per-view basis rather than over-the-top (OTT) platform. The movie is scheduled to open in theatres on June 20.

A close source reveals, “Considering the developments at the borders and the nationwide alert, Aamir decided to postpone the release of Sitaare Zameen Par’s trailer. His thoughts are with the bravehearts of our Armed Forces. He feels it is important to respond with unity and restraint during this time.”

Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par Hai New Platform Release:

According to reports, Aamir Khan had originally intended for Laal Singh Chaddha to be released on Netflix in January 2023, six months after its August 2022 theatrical debut. But after only eight weeks, the movie was available for streaming on Netflix. The source added, "The decision involves multiple factors. Of course, there is a perception that non-spectacle films are better suited for OTT platforms, which has led many to skip them in theatres. Pay-per-view, however, creates a cinema-like urgency, as viewers would need to pay specifically for the film rather than accessing it freely through a subscription model. This consumer-centric approach benefits both viewers and producers, giving the latter more control over their content. Aamir wants to see how this plays out, so we shall know the details in the coming weeks."

The May 8 release date for the Sitaare Zameen Par trailer has also been postponed. Rising tensions at the border prompted the creators to postpone it, according to a Mid-Day report. "Aamir decided to postpone the release of Sitaare Zameen Par's trailer due to the border developments and the nationwide alert," the source said. He is thinking of the courageous members of our military. He believes that during this moment, it is critical to react in unison and with moderation.

The movie, which was directed by R.S. Prasanna (Shubh Mangal Saavdhan), is regarded as a spiritual follow-up to Taare Zameen Par. It is based on the Spanish sports comedy Campeones and stars Genelia D'Souza Deshmukh and Darsheel Safary.
