A new casting announcement has increased the excitement surrounding Golmaal 5, which is expected to be one of the most eagerly awaited Hindi cinema sequels in recent years. Filmmaker Rohit Shetty quietly revealed that the fifth instalment of the Golmaal franchise is formally under development during the theatrical release of Ajay Devgn's Son of Sardaar 2. Now, a fresh report proposes a major addition to the ensemble that might substantially impact the tone of the film.

After the upcoming Rakesh Maria biopic starring John Abraham, Rohit Shetty is gearing up to return to the world of Golmaal with the fifth edition in the much-loved comedy franchise, named Golmaal 5. The movie sees the comeback of Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu, and now a report has stated that the makers have roped in none other than Akshay Kumar as the main adversary.

Golmaal 5 Movie Casting Update:

Variety India reports that Akshay Kumar has been cast as the main antagonist in Golmaal 5. If accurate, this is a big casting move for the franchise, which has always depended on situational comedy and ensemble turmoil rather than a prominent villain. According to reports, Akshay Kumar will take on Ajay Devgn and the other members of the legendary Golmaal gang.

According to sources, Golmaal 5 is being produced on a bigger scale than its predecessors while maintaining the slapstick humour that has characterised the show since its 2006 premiere. Interestingly, the next chapter is also supposed to contain fantasy elements, expanding the narrative beyond the typical prank-driven framework. This creative change preserves the franchise's signature insanity while hinting at a more ambitious plot.

Akshay Kumar playing villain in Golmaal 5 means he will now be a member of four of the largest comedy series in Indian cinema – Golmaal, Housefull, Hera Pheri and Welcome. More intriguingly, the film is Akshay's second villain role in recent memory, following his impending portrayal as the threatening killer in Priyadarshan's Haiwaan, which stars Saif Ali Khan as the main character.
