IPL 2022 champions and IPL 2026 finalists Gujarat Titans had a very good outing last season. They dominated the proceedings right up till the final, where only a rampaging Royal Challengers Bengaluru bettered them. Shubman Gill has captained the GT team very well and has led from the front, along with Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler.
As GT prepares for the upcoming IPL 2027 tournament, they will begin by formulating a strategy for the mini auction in December. GT has a very settled squad, with main players having adequate backups as well. However, today we see three players who GT can release before the IPL 2027 auction.
Here are the 3 players GT could release before the IPL 2027 mini-auction:
3. Kulwant Khejroliya
Kulwant Khejroliya, the Delhi and Madhya Pradesh pacer, has always been there in several IPL squads but has only played 9 games since making his IPL debut in 2018. Even in IPL 2026, Khejroliya managed one game and didn’t take a wicket. Khejroliya was a replacement player at GT in IPL 2026 for Prithviraj Yarra, and it is likely that the pacer will be released before the IPL 2027 auction.
2. Luke Wood
England’s Luke Wood was picked up for his base price by Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026, but he warmed the bench instead of getting some game time. Wood has an impressive record in T20S with 230 wickets in 224 games and has played 17 T20Is and 3 ODIs for England as well. However, with an abundance of pacers already in GT’s arsenal, the franchise management might let Wood go.
1. Nishant Sindhu
Nishan Sindhu was entrusted by GT to bat at no. 5, and he played 8 games but scored only 63 runs. He struggled against top-quality opposition bowling and didn’t contribute with the ball. GT has a host of spin all-rounders like Manav Suthar, Rahul Tewatia, Glenn Phillips, Rashid Khan, and Washington Sundar. GT can easily let go of Nishant Sindhu and instead bring in someone else to bolster the batting.
