The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) will begin on Sunday, March 23, according to BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla. Rajeev Shukla, vice president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), confirmed the start date of the grand tournament in India today. During the mega auction, held in Jeddah on November 24 and 25, all ten franchises selected their preferred squads.
After the auction, there was conjecture about when the cash-rich league might begin. Meanwhile, while he confirmed the inaugural date, he did not specify the dates for the playoffs or the final, and the whole schedule is still expected. Rajeev Shukla, who attended the Special General Meeting (SGM) in Mumbai, confirmed the date of the IPL 2025 to the media, saying, "IPL is going to start from March 23."

It is worth mentioning that the decision was reached at the most recent BCCI meeting, where choices were made about the nomination of the new treasurer and secretary, with discussions focusing on the obligations that lie ahead. The same is expected to happen in the next meeting, which is set for Sunday, January 19. Last season, the IPL 2024 began on March 22 with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on the Chennai Super Kings and concluded on May 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
Additionally, the IPL has announced the appointment of a new commissioner for a one-year term. The next BCCI meeting is planned for January 18-19; it is worth noting that the meeting will focus on finalising India's Champions Trophy team. While speaking with the media, Shukla revealed that the WPL sites have been finalized and will be announced soon.
