The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has awarded the Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) the coveted "Best Pitch and Ground" title for the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). The award recognised the exceptional work of the Arun Jaitley Stadium grounds crew, who provided excellent playing conditions during the IPL season. The award also recognises outstanding performance in outfield upkeep, pitch condition, and general ground management, which guarantees players a level playing field and an amazing spectator experience.
Rohan Jaitley, President of the DDCA, conveyed appreciation, saying, “This award is a testament to the tireless work of our curators, staff, and management. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards in cricket infrastructure." DDCA Vice President Shikha Kumar added, “This recognition validates our collective vision of turning the Arun Jaitley Stadium into a world-class cricket venue. It is a proud moment for Delhi cricket.”
Arun Jaitley Stadium Wins Best Pitch and Ground Award:
Honorary Secretary Ashok Sharma said, "Behind every great match is a dedicated team working round the clock. This award reflects their passion and professionalism." Joint Secretary Amit Grover said, "We are thrilled with this recognition. It motivates us to continue investing in better facilities for players and fans alike."
Before moving to the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Delhi Capitals played their first IPL 2025 home games at Visakhapatnam. Delhi was one of six locations where matches were moved after the tournament restarted following a pause brought on by the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
The Delhi Capitals enjoyed a fantastic start to the 2025 season, but as the season progressed, they struggled. With seven victories, six defeats, and one draw, DC finished in fifth place with 15 points, barely missing out on a spot in the top four. They will be hoping to break their 18-year drought the following season.
