Former Indian cricket player Sridharan Sriram has been named the assistant bowling coach of the five-time champion Chennai Super Kings ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. Dwayne Bravo, a former CSK veteran who joined the Kolkata Knight Riders as a trainer last year, is replaced by Sriram. During the 2023 and 2024 seasons, the West Indian all-rounder served as bowling coach for CSK, the IPL's second-most successful team.

The franchise announced the announcement on Monday via their social media pages. Sriram will join the CSK support staff, which also includes head coach Stephen Fleming, batting coach Michael Hussey, bowling consultant Eric Simons, and batting and fielding coach Rajiv Kumar. Sriram is currently employed as a broadcaster for the Star Sports Tamil commentary team for the Champions Trophy.

Sridharan Sriram Joins CSK:

Sriram provides a plethora of experience. From 2016 until 2022, he served as Australia's assistant coach. He joined Bangladesh as a T20 consultant in August 2022 as they prepared for the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup. He joined the Lucknow Super Giants the following year (2023) as their assistant coach for the 2024 Indian Premier League. Before the 2023 50-over World Cup, he returned to Bangladesh as a technical consultant. Not to be overlooked is the fact that he was the assistant coach for the Delhi Daredevils (now the Delhi Capitals).

Regarding the last edition, CSK was unable to qualify for the playoffs. Under Ruturaj Gaikwad's leadership, they won seven of their 14 group-stage matches and lost as many, ultimately placing fifth. At the conclusion of their league phase, they were tied with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They were unable to pass, nevertheless, due to a lower net run rate. On March 23, the Chennai Super Kings will play their first match in Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium against the Mumbai Indians, who have won the IPL five times.
