Munaf Patel, a former Indian international, has been appointed as the Delhi Capitals' new bowling coach for the 2025 Indian Premier League. They announced a coaching panel revamp last month, appointing Hemang Badani as head coach and Venugopal Rao as director of cricket, respectively. The former cricket player first stated his interest in the position during UP20 2024, but Delhi notably verified the news on November 12.
Munaf, 41, will collaborate with DC Director of cricket Venugopal Rao and head coach Hemang Badani. For the first time in his career, Munaf, who resigned from professional cricket in 2018, would be handling the prominent coaching responsibilities. He will take James Hopes' place, who left the team after the 2024 Indian Premier League along with head coach Ricky Ponting.

In addition to winning the 2011 World Cup, the 2011 World Cup champion also played for the Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Lions. He earlier won the trophy while the pacer was with the Mumbai Indians. Munaf has participated in 63 IPL games overall, taking 74 wickets at an economy rate of 7.51.
Having participated in 86 international matches and claimed 125 international wickets, Munaf has represented India in a variety of formats. Before the massive auction in Jeddah on November 24 and 25, the franchise will have a purse of ₹73 crore. Thanks to the Right To Match (RTM) cards, DC will be able to keep two more players. They could keep two capped players or one capped and one uncapped.
For the forthcoming season, Delhi has kept Abishek Porel, Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav. Before the mega-auction, they had to let go of skipper Rishabh Pant since the team was unable to persuade the India international. It wouldn't be shocking if the franchise used the two Right to Match (RTM) cards they have available for the auction to get Pant.
