Jasprit Bumrah, the pace leader for the Mumbai Indians (MI), will miss the opening three games of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season while he recovers from a back ailment. Bumrah is anticipated to join MI by early April, pending approval from the BCCI's (Board of Control for Cricket in India) medical team. He suffered the injury during India's final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Sydney on January 4.
Bumrah may miss up to two weeks of activity in the next IPL and will miss important games for his club, according to a TOI report.Β He will miss a number of important games, including one against their bitter rivals, CSK. The team will undoubtedly miss his services if the pacer doesn't recover in time for MI's opening game. According to reports, let's see three bowlers who could be selected against CSK if Bumrah is unavailable.
Who will replace Jasprit Bumrah?
3. Reece Topley:
In the IPL 2025 auction, the Mumbai-based team paid INR 75 lakhs for English pacer Reece Topley, who can be a useful addition to Bumrah's place. The 6-foot-7-inch left-armer stands out due to his ability to create more bounce and movement. He is well-known for his variety of bowling and has taken 230 wickets at an average of 23.20 in T20 cricket.

2. Corbin Bosch:
Corbin Bosch is an intriguing option as the South African X-factor. Despite having respectable T20 stats, the Proteas bowler has not participated in a T20I match for his country. He just replaced Lizaad Williams as a member of the team. Bosch is a good wicket-taker, and MI needs a reliable wicket-taker to replace Bumrah if he is unable to play against CSK. The economy is a little on the upper side.

1. Arjun Tendulkar:
In the opening games of the forthcoming season, Arjun, the son of Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar, may see action for the Mumbai Indians. Arjun Tendulkar, who has been with MI since 2021, spent two seasons on the bench before making his IPL debut in 2023. Arjun, who was purchased for INR 30 lakh in the 2025 auction, has now participated in five IPL games and claimed three wickets.
