All ten IPL teams announced their retained players on Thursday, October 31, ahead of the IPL 2025 big auctions. Prior to the start of the lucrative league's new season, many elite players were kept by their current teams; however, a small number of players chose to leave their current teams and will now be up for auction.

Some of the players who were released have demonstrated remarkable consistency in their performances throughout the last few years. Despite their demonstrated abilities, many of them have not received recognition and have not been signed by their respective franchises. Let's look at the top three players who might bag big bucks at the upcoming auctions.

Players to shine at IPL 2025:

3. Ajinkya Rahane:

Ajinkya Rahane, a veteran Indian batter, is not well-known for his T20 skills. Following his selection by the Chennai Super Kings for the 2023 Indian Premier League, the Mumbai batsman silenced his detractors with his quick-paced style of play, scoring 326 runs and playing a key part in CSK's sixth championship win.

Rahane is renowned for his prowess in Test cricket, but he has also had some success in the game's shorter format. Rahane's 185 IPL games and two seasons with 500+ runs make him a vital asset to any team. He still can entice franchises to bid for him at the auction table, even though his stocks have dropped in recent years.

2. KL Rahul:

KL Rahul, the most prolific run scorer for LSG in IPL history, was let go by the Lucknow-based team and will now be up for grabs at the IPL 2025 mega auctions. Since making his debut in 2013, the 32-year-old top-order hitter has amassed 4683 runs in 132 games played in the lucrative competition. Rahul's leadership and captaincy abilities will put him in high demand.

1. Harshal Patel:

The 33-year-old seamer's career has been nothing short of remarkable, particularly during the 2021 season when he won the Purple Cap and took 32 wickets. Patel brings a plethora of experience and a track record of success to the table, having taken 135 wickets at an average of 23.33 in 105 games. After taking 24 wickets in the IPL 2024, he was awarded the Purple Cap once more. Patel, who is well-known for his deft variations and lethal slower balls, has frequently demonstrated his ability in pivotal match moments.
