On March 1, in Match No. 52 of the T20 World Cup 2026 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav dismissed Roston Chase with a brilliant moment in the field. Jasprit Bumrah's game-changing over to strengthen India's hold in the West Indies innings coincided with the spectacular catch.
The captain sent Jasprit Bumrah into the attack in the 12th over because India was in dire need of a wicket, and the seamer did not let him down. First, Sanju Samson caught the dangerous Shimron Hetmyer behind him. Two balls later, Bumrah outwitted a well-set Shai Hope with a slower delivery, resulting in a misguided stroke that sailed skyward. To turn the tide back in India's favour, Suryakumar, who was positioned at short cover, leapt high and executed an incredible diving grab.

He delivered a deft slower delivery that ascended sharply on Chase on the fifth ball of the over. The ball was lobbed off the splice of the West Indies batter's bat after he committed early to the hit. In an instant, Suryakumar Yadav responded by running to his right and then launching himself full stretch. He dismissed Chase for a well-made 40 from 25 balls after perfectly timing his dive, getting both hands to the ball, and holding on.
India chose to bowl first after winning the toss earlier and entered the game with the same starting lineup. During the powerplay, the Men in Blue were a little careless, giving Roston Chase two reprieves: once in the third over and once in the fifth. After defeating Pakistan, the United States, Namibia, and the Netherlands, India advanced to the Super Eight stage of the competition. They recovered well against Zimbabwe after losing to South Africa in their opening Super Eight match. The stakes are really high because this matchup is like a quarterfinal.
Meanwhile, the West Indies defeated England, Nepal, Italy, and Scotland to advance to the Super Eight. In their first Super Eight game, they defeated Zimbabwe, but they lost to South Africa. This match is important as they compete with South Africa, England, and New Zealand for a semifinal berth.
